The Role
Your Role
As an Infrastructure Architect, you will serve as a key technical link between Kyndryl and its clients, providing leadership throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate with client stakeholders, governance teams, project executives, delivery teams, and vendors to understand business and technical requirements, define appropriate solutions, and ensure successful delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
As an Infrastructure Architect, you'll draw upon the full breadth of your talent and experience. This is a technical leadership role, so we want you to bring your vision, knowledge, and leadership to each project. To the client, you're the subject matter expert - consulting early, gathering inputs, understanding what they need from our solution. You define what Kyndryl can do to meet this solution. You design the best solution for the job. And finally, you're the tech leader for implementation.
At Kyndryl we support all major cloud platforms, so you'll get the chance to use everything you know - and then some. You'll also become expert at knowing when and how to call on other SMEs outside your wheelhouse. Thinking your way around pre-existing limitations will grow your creativity and flexibility. You'll learn a lot here, and if you want to work toward certifications there are plenty of opportunities. The rewards for all this are many. You'll get to influence, create, and deliver something from start to finish. You will have the power to delight our clients.
What You Will Do
Design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot Microsoft Azure infrastructure and application platforms, including Virtual Networks, NSGs, routing, private endpoints, DNS, gateways, App Services, AKS, Azure SQL Server, and Azure SQL Database.
Develop and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines using PowerShell, Bash/Shell scripting, Python, Azure DevOps, and YAML for efficient application and infrastructure deployments.
Build reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using ARM templates and Azure Bicep, ensuring cloud environments are scalable, secure, repeatable, and consistently configured.
Implement DevOps and DevSecOps best practices, including Desired State Configuration, shift-left security/testing, configuration management, automated validation, monitoring, logging, and cloud security controls.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, database, and architecture teams to automate operational processes, troubleshoot complex Azure/AKS/networking issues, improve platform reliability, and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
Your future at Kyndryl
This role opens the door to many career paths, both vertical and horizontal, and there may be opportunity to travel. It's a great chance for database administrators or other techs to break into the cloud. It's also a solid path to become enterprise or chief architect or a distinguished engineer! Whatever you see for yourself, you'll find the opportunity here.
Who You Are
You're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. However, equally as important - you have a growth mindset; keen to drive your own personal and professional development. You are customer-focused - someone who prioritizes customer success in their work. And finally, you're open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, Cloud, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering, with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure enterprise environments.
Strong experience with Azure networking, including Virtual Networks, subnets, NSGs, routing, gateways, DNS, network segmentation, private/public connectivity, IP addressing, CIDR, TLS/SSL, and secure network communication.
Hands-on experience with Azure App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, along with working knowledge of T-SQL and SQL troubleshooting.
Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise using PowerShell, Bash/Shell, Python, ARM templates, Azure Bicep, and Azure DevOps YAML pipelines for CI/CD and infrastructure deployments.
Solid understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including Desired State Configuration, shift-left methodologies, cloud security, Git/Azure DevOps Repos, branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews, and strong troubleshooting across applications, pipelines, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience managing production-grade Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments, Docker/containerization, Azure security controls, Managed Identities, Service Principals, Azure Key Vault, RBAC, and least-privilege access models.
Experience with Azure monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights, with a strong focus on platform reliability, security, and operational excellence.
Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code and automation, including reusable Azure Bicep modules, standardized deployment patterns, and clean, scalable, maintainable automation solutions.
Experience integrating security, quality, and compliance controls into CI/CD pipelines, with knowledge of blue-green, rolling, and canary deployment strategies.
Strong troubleshooting, ownership, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborate across development, infrastructure, security, database, and architecture teams from solution design through production support.

How to prepare and behave
This is editorial guidance, not information from the employer.
Read the whole description and match your examples to its requirements; use the same words the posting uses where they are true for you.
Research the employer before the interview: what it does, who its customers are and recent news; prepare two or three questions about the work.
Arrive early (or log in early for a video call), dress one step above the daily dress code, and test your camera and audio beforehand.
Answer with short stories: the situation, what you did and the result. Give numbers when you have them and never invent them.
Be honest about gaps; say what you did to learn and how fast you can close them.
Ask about the team, the first 90 days, how success is measured and the schedule; do not open with salary and time off.
When pay comes up, know the market range for the occupation and your lowest acceptable offer before you answer; ask for the full package in writing.
Send a short thank-you message within a day, mentioning one thing you discussed.
The listing mentions a remote or flexible location. Confirm with the employer whether remote work applies to your state: taxes, licensing and benefits can depend on where you live.
Have code, data work or projects you can show, and be ready to think aloud: many technical interviews test how you reason, not only the answer.
The listing is remote or has no US state we could identify. Read the country guide for pay, taxes, law and cost of living by state.
